Sekumpul Waterfall:

Located in the Buleleng Regency of North Bali, Sekumpul is surrounded by steep green cliffs and dense tropical vegetation.
The area is known for a collection of seven waterfalls scattered across the valley. The most famous cascades fall from a height of approximately 80 metres, creating an impressive curtain of water above the rocks and jungle below.
From the first viewpoint, the waterfalls already appear spectacular. But the real experience begins when you decide to descend into the valley.
Hundreds of steps lead through the vegetation towards the river. The sound of the water becomes stronger, the air becomes cooler and the surrounding jungle slowly closes around you. Depending on the route selected, the experience may include river crossings, viewpoints, rice terraces and visits to the neighbouring Fiji waterfalls.

The journey from Lovina to Sekumpul
The drive from The Hamsa to Sekumpul takes approximately one hour, depending on traffic and road conditions.
The journey is already part of the experience.
Leaving the Lovina area, the road gradually climbs into the hills of North Bali. Coastal views are replaced by plantations, villages and tropical countryside. Along the way, you see a side of Bali that many visitors never encounter when they remain in the south.
Your driver can answer practical questions, share information about the area and help you understand the places you pass.
Arriving at Sekumpul
On arrival, your driver helps you find the official entrance and understand the trekking options available that day.
Sekumpul can be experienced in different ways. Visitors who do not want to undertake the full descent can enjoy the waterfall from a viewpoint. More active travellers can select a trekking route leading down towards Sekumpul and the surrounding waterfalls.
Local operators currently offer several routes of different durations. Depending on the chosen circuit, the trek may last from approximately two hours to four or five hours and may include a local trekking guide, motorcycle transfer, rice terraces, Sekumpul Waterfall and Fiji Waterfall. The exact options and prices should always be confirmed on arrival because they may change.
The Hamsa excursion gives you the freedom to select and pay for the option that suits you rather than imposing the same package on every guest.
The descent into the valley
The trail begins gently, but the landscape soon opens onto the deep valley below.
From the viewpoints, you can see slender streams of water falling through a wall of vegetation. From a distance, the people standing near the base appear tiny, giving you a first impression of the waterfall’s scale.
The path then continues down a long series of steps.
With each turn, the sound of Sekumpul becomes louder. The temperature drops slightly beneath the trees, and fine droplets of water begin to drift through the air.
Near the bottom, you may need to walk across wet rocks or cross shallow sections of the river. Conditions vary according to the season and recent rainfall. The official North Bali tourism information warns that the path can become slippery during rain, so appropriate footwear and extra care are essential.
Then, suddenly, the waterfall appears above you.
Standing at the bottom of Sekumpul is completely different from seeing it in photographs. Water pours from the cliffs, mist moves through the valley and the roar of the falls fills the entire space.
It is one of those rare places where the landscape makes you stop talking for a moment.
Take your time
There is no reason to rush your visit.
You can explore the viewpoints, take photographs, rest beside the river or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the valley. Swimming may be possible in designated areas when conditions are safe, but instructions from local guides must always be followed.
Travellers choosing a longer route may also discover Fiji Waterfall, rice terraces and other parts of the surrounding landscape. Some local trekking options last three to five hours and include access to several waterfalls.
After the trek, you are free to stop at a local restaurant or warung.
Lunch is not imposed or included automatically. You choose where and what you would like to eat, pay directly at the restaurant and contact your driver when you are ready to leave.
This flexibility makes the excursion suitable for travellers who prefer a personal experience rather than a tightly scheduled organised tour.
What should you bring to Sekumpul Waterfall?

Avoid smooth flip-flops for the full trek. The steps, rocks and river crossings can be wet and slippery.

Is the Sekumpul Waterfall trek difficult?
The difficulty depends on the experience you select.
Viewpoint visit
The easiest choice is to enjoy Sekumpul from the upper viewpoint. This option is suitable for travellers who do not want to complete the steep descent or who have limited time.
Waterfall trek
Reaching the bottom requires a reasonable level of fitness. The trail includes a substantial number of steps, uneven terrain and possible river crossings. The return climb is usually the most physically demanding part.
The official destination information describes the route as a challenging walk involving deep steps and river crossings.
The complete trek may not be suitable for people with serious knee, hip, mobility or heart problems. Families should also consider each child’s walking ability rather than relying only on age.
